Step beyond the kitchen door and something shifts – in the quiet of the garden the day finds its own pace. Morning dew lingers on the lawn, petals catch the light as they slowly open and the scent of rosemary rises when you brush past.
In the garden nothing feels rushed; the summer breeze and swaying greenery encourage you to pause and take in every detail. It’s this pace that sits at the heart of Sorbet Living.
We look to the garden not just for beauty, but for feeling. The colours of the season arrive softly, from the blush of climbing roses and the silvery green of sage leaves, to the chalk-white elderflower blooming along the hedgerow. These are the hues that thread their way through our collection this summer: hushed pinks, herbal greens, sun-warmed neutrals. A palette rooted in the rural garden.
Soft gingham linens in green tones bring a nostalgic yet unfussy touch to the home. We imagine them spread over an old wooden table beneath a canopy of jasmine or folded beside a teapot waiting to be poured. The nostalgic checked print is paired with fresh clippings from the herb bed or a few stems gathered on a walk, placed in a sculptural ceramic vase.
From textiles to textures – the weighty ceramics in our collection echo the shapes and shades of green space outdoors. Berry bowls in tactile, organic forms waiting to be filled with vibrant fruits, mixed with a patterned white plate pressed with floral and leaf imprints. These tactile pieces ground the table bringing a bucolic theme.
When we’re seeking inspiration, it’s always the garden we return to. Sometimes it’s our own, and other times it’s found in the cultivated calm of nearby spaces that celebrate nature. These places remind us of the rhythm we try to capture at Sorbet Living: thoughtful, slow, rooted in the landscape. A few of our favourite spots to wander:
Petworth Park, West Sussex
A sweeping 700-acre parkland where ancient trees and wild deer feel almost painted into place. This is Capability Brown at his best; sweeping curves in the land, long stretching views across the serpentine lake and a sense of space that clears the mind.
Charleston House & Gardens, near Lewes
Walled and wild in the loveliest way, the gardens at Charleston shift with the seasons. A vibrant blend of cottage garden charm and Mediterranean textures, all set against the backdrop of the Bloomsbury Group’s artistic legacy.
The Knepp Rewilding Project, West Sussex
For something more untamed, Knepp offers a hopeful glimpse into what can happen when nature is given space to breathe. Two decades of rewilding have transformed this former farmland into a thriving patchwork of grasslands, wetlands and wildflower meadows with incredible wildlife thriving in its ecosystem.
