Welcoming autumn with ease

Textiles

As summer starts to wind down, it can feel like the fun times are over for another year. You may have returned from holidays with a mountain of unpacking, waved off your summer guests for the season, or be thinking about getting the garden ready for the colder months.

However, we love the hazy days of late summer and the in-between phase leading into autumn. These are precious moments where a morning of warm sunshine feels like a late summer gift and prompts a spontaneous picnic. Or a dinner party drifts out to the garden, watching the evenings draw in under a blanket next to the firepit. When breakfast is creamy yoghurt with the last of the season’s strawberries and cherries, and lunch salads are packed full of early autumn vegetables.

To celebrate this passage of the seasons, we have launched our early autumn collection of tableware, textiles and lifestyle items. A thoughtful curation of pieces to refresh your home after the sweetness of summer and to seamlessly complement Sorbet Living items from seasons gone by.

Whether you’re dining outside under the late summer rays or laying the table indoors, our tableware with new ceramics and textiles is a beautiful and durable addition to the tablescape. These are made for Sorbet Living by Tash Fry klā, an artist who harnesses nature to create organic, hand-sculpted pieces, and her creations include a tactile serving platter in forest greenyellow gingham side plates and smaller dipping bowls made from buttermilk stoneware.

Our colour palette is drifting towards autumn with the addition of a deep lilac shade on our elegant table runner and soft linen beach towel. This colour of our textiles is so versatile, bringing a bold pop to late summer tables and picnics and matching it with deeper autumnal shades when the season changes. To contrast, we’ve carried on our love for gingham with a beautiful tablecloth in soft grey check and given a nod to autumn’s rustic palette with a linen and cotton blend cushion in soft sand.

To capture our early autumn collection of tableware and textiles, we created Sorbet Living scenes at Roebuck Estates, a picturesque vineyard overlooking the South Downs in West Sussex. The lush green vines and rolling country views were the perfect backdrop for our shoot and the location reflects the many beautiful days out you can experience at this time of year. The high summer sunshine has given way to more pleasant temperatures in which we can all enjoy visiting places like vineyards, country estates, historical landmarks or simply taking a scenic walk with friends.
