We are so privileged to have wellbeing products from La Eva in our bathroom collection this season. Based in a cluster of farm buildings in the Oxfordshire countryside, La Eva is considered and creative in everything it does, from the creating breathtaking scents that evoke emotions to its connections with fellow makers and partners helping to bring its self-care products to life. We have fallen head over heels for La Eva! Here are 10 things we particularly love about this beautiful brand:
The brand name ‘La Eva’ is derived from the latin ‘laeva’ meaning left of centre and ‘Eva’ the female name meaning life, living one, full of life. A perfect title for the harmonious world of La Eva.
La Eva recognises the time-honoured skills of traditional perfumiers and follows these principles when creating its unique scents with pure essential oils. Fragrances become a gateway to sentiments and memories – for example the Blu scent we have on Sorbet Living is grounding and soothing with a feel of ‘an island basking in the sun.’
La Eva’s amber apothecary bottles call to mind traditional pharmacies of old and soothing natural remedies. The dark glass bottles look lovely in the bathroom and they have a dual purpose, designed to be reused and refilled rather than thrown away.
1litre aluminium bottles are available directly from La Eva, to replenish the glass apothecaries. Aluminium was chosen as it’s lightweight, durable and infinitely recyclable.
La Eva celebrates the simple, precious offerings of our natural world and seeks out partners with similar values. Wherever possible, La Eva purchases ingredients directly from growers and local farms. When it comes to sourcing fabrics, for example for its beautiful lotus silk eye masks, La Eva works in collaboration with Thread Tales and the dedicated artisans at Fair Konnect to craft offerings that are a celebration of spirituality, artistry, and sustainability.
The artwork on La Eva’s bottles is designed by a community of fine artists including Rosie-Marie Caldecott from Oxfordshire, who creates symbolic and semi-abstract landscape paintings. Each La Eva bottle is decorated with a beautiful piece of artwork reflecting the smells and emotions inside.
As well as working with a selection of independent, considered stockists like Sorbet Living, La Eva offers its ethical amenities to hospitality clients. You can find its signature products in inspiring places like Petersham Nurseries, Savoy Hotels, Claridge’s and the newly-opened Estelle Manor.
Not many bathroom products can boast their own musical score! La Eva has a 90 minute soundscape called ‘Sensory Immersion’, inspired by the idea of synaesthesia and the harmony of the senses. Originally created to accompany its signature massages, the soft rolling notes are the perfect backdrop to meditation or simply an hour or so of calming rest.
In 2015 La Eva founder Louisa Canham began making cold process soap and selling it at festivals and markets, slowly building its reputation and community of customers and partners. Two years later she launched a body wash and lotion and began adding to its collection thoughtfully, all while advocating a less-is-more philosophy. Good things take time, and La Eva has benefited from the breathing space to slowly evolve while retaining its original brand ethos.
From the first moment you lather on La Eva’s face and body wash, you’re whisked away to a tranquil spa with natural essences heightening your senses. The scent and feeling of these beautiful products encourage you to slow down and be present in a moment of self-care, knowing you are nourishing your skin with a face and body wash product that’s created with love and kindness to the natural world.
You can find La Eva’s Face and Body Wash in Blu and Roseum, and La Eva’s Face and Body Lotion in Blu and Roseum at Sorbet Living.
