Creating a cosy dining theme

Sorbetlivingautumntable

Summer lingered a while longer this year and as lovely as it was, our seasonal rhythm is restored now that Autumn has fallen into place.

We still appreciate the outdoors, noting the changing hedgerows and fiery shades of falling leaves on our walks, but we’re also feathering the nest inside in readiness for shorter days and toasty nights. The dining table is the heart of the Sorbet Living home in these months; the gathering place to style with rich textures and botanical beauty alongside a hearty homemade meal.

Cosy dining is our Autumn table theme – soft calming shades, elegant tactile tableware and the glow of candelight inviting an unhurried, in-the-moment atmosphere for seasonal meals. Ceramics from different artisan makers are styled together in harmonious colours and shapes, sage green candles contrast against a rose linen tablecloth and simple glassware catches the light. Flowers always feature in our themes; here we arranged a mix of dusky dried summer blooms and Autumn foliage reflecting the fleeting beauty of seasonal plants. Considerate details like a linen napkin over their chair and a plump juicy pear at each setting make guests feel at home and cared for at this dinner party.

Sorbet Living’s cosy dining theme was brought to life by stylist Ailie Williams and photographer Sarah Button. Featuring tableware from Barton Croft Ceramics and Ist London, our handthrown scalloped vase by South Coast ceramicist Alice Passingham, sage candles and our European glassware.

This Autumn we are delighted to be running a pop-up space at The Barn Townhouse in Chichester, a beautiful three-storey heritage space which opened earlier this year. The Barn Townhouse has quickly become an inspiring place to gather for coffee, cakes and seasonal dishes alongside a food and lifestyle store sourcing delicious treats and homewares from across Europe. Sorbet Living has taken residence on the second floor, with our seasonal collection styled next to a beautiful botanical mural by designer Lucy Tiffney – we hope to meet many of you on your next visit to Chichester.
