We are on the cusp of the festive season and the Sorbet Living home is ready for friends and family. Christmas food is as much about the presentation as it is the eating. Meals and nibbles form the backdrop to precious time together and we believe the extra attention detail adds to the festive magic. Seasonal chestnuts served in our handmade fluted bowl, crafted to echo the shape of traditional French pastry creations (this shape also comes in smaller bowls and a plate perfect for mince pies). New for this season, our handpainted folklore bowl brings a Nordic Christmas feel to the table, made especially for Sorbet Living by a London ceramics workshop. This stoneware bowl is a thoughtful gift or a piece to add to your own festive collection, to be brought out year on year and treasured by generations of your family.
Often the focus is on the big events at this time of year – drinks parties, the Christmas dinner and large gatherings. But the pauses in between can often be the most memorable. Stirring hot chocolate in a pan while the family get ready for a festive film. Coming home from a chilly walk to a cosy living room, candles glowing and nothing planned but an afternoon of board games. Coffee in bed on Boxing Day. Our approach to Christmas styling is simple, natural and with a focus on pieces that can be enjoyed for the season and carefully stored for next year. Once again we have collaborated with Sussex florist Dove & Myrtle to commission beautiful ‘forever wreaths’ featuring dried blooms. Hang these in a dry area indoors or outdoors to extend their lifespan. A simple swap of cushion covers can instantly add a festive feel; we are layering our handmade sheepskin cushions with our green check linen ruffle cushions. The combination of cosy boucle and soft linen is perfect for this time of year.
The finishing touch is our hand-designed, reversible wrapping paper. A beautiful way to present your gifts at Christmas; encourage friends and family to recycle ribbons for their next gift wrapping session, tie in their hair, or use as bows around napkins at dinner parties.
